4. Key Specs to Check Before You Buy
Beyond voltage and motor type, pay attention to these specifications:
- No-load speed (RPM) — Higher RPM suits cutting and grinding; lower RPM with high torque suits driving and drilling.
- Torque (Nm) — Critical for drills and impact drivers. More torque = more driving force.
- Chuck size — 10mm for light work, 13mm for general trade use.
- IP rating — If you're working outdoors or in wet conditions, look for tools with dust and water resistance.
- Weight — Especially relevant for overhead work. Even 200g makes a difference over an eight-hour shift.
